World Book Day at IBS Primary was a fun celebration of literature and the joy of reading! Our primary school pupils (and even some of our staff!) dressed up as their favorite book characters, bringing stories to life.
Each child received a free book voucher, encouraging them to discover new worlds and adventures within the pages of a book. Throughout the day, older students visited some of the younger classes to share the magic of storytelling, fostering a love for reading across all age groups.
Our students also had the opportunity to purchase more books for just €1 each, with all proceeds going to support the local charity LA SEIN VICTOIRE in their fight against breast cancer. Thank you to everyone who supported this great cause with their book donations!
Why is Reading So Important?
At IBS of Provence, we believe that reading is fundamental to a child's development and future success, as reading:
Sparks Imagination and Creativity: Books transport children to different worlds, igniting their imagination and encouraging creative thinking.
Expands Vocabulary and Language Skills: Reading exposes children to a rich and varied vocabulary, helping them develop language skills and communicate effectively. Research shows that children who read regularly have a larger vocabulary and stronger language skills.
Improves Concentration and Focus: Following a story requires sustained attention, helping children develop crucial concentration skills.
Develops Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: By stepping into the shoes of fictional characters, children learn to understand different perspectives and develop empathy.
Enhances Academic Success: Strong reading skills are essential for success in all academic subjects. Reading comprehension and analytical thinking are built when we read more.
Builds Knowledge of the World: Reading opens a window to other cultures, times, and ideas, broadening children's understanding of the world around them.
We are committed to fostering a lifelong love of reading in our students. Our library is a treasure trove of books, and our teachers use engaging storytelling techniques to bring literature to life. We believe that reading is the key that unlocks a world of imagination and knowledge for every child.
