On Thursday February 1, all IB art students left with their art teachers on a day trip to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, some 25 km from Nice. As soon as we arrived we visited the “Fondation Maeght”, a prestigious private museum famous for its collection of contemporary art and its beautiful architecture. There was special focus on the curatorial aspects of the display, an important criteria for the upcoming IB Art Exhibition. The temporary exhibition, “Is this how men live?” included many artworks of international famous artists like Giacometti, Chagall, Miro, Kandinsky and many more. The modern architecture and the sculpture garden, a result of a collaboration between the architect and several painters and sculptors, formed also an inspiring site for the young artists.. At lunch time we had a picnic and walked up to the beautiful village of Saint-Paul that is well known for its numerous art galleries and workshops. We all had some free time there and the opportunity to discover the artworks of the local artists. Thank you to all for your enthusiasm and participation on this creative outing!
